The menager was a very helpfull nice man. Staff very friendly The hotel is very close to Colombo fort station, very convinient for who like me and my boyfriend were travellling by trains. Spacious rooms
Hotel from outside looks very dirty, badly mantained and the surroundings aren't the best. Staff at the reception was very disorganized. Rooms aren't the cleanest we saw in Sri Lanka and the bed was very hard, was like sleeping on the floor. (5Cm thick materass laid on a piece of thick wood) Interiors are old and dirty with holes near doors from which ants are coming in/out. Staff doesn't know trains time tables and is very inefficient. Took us 3h+ to find out what time train were leaving. ( If someone was in rush to get to the airport would have missed at least 1 train) Far to expensive for what you get! Worth paying a bit more to stay in a much better hotel
The sense of history and it's close proximity to shopping areas make it a very easy hotel to stay in. The staff are extra-ordinarily helpful, friendly and polite. It is very easy to find and extremely easy to get to. The only hotel I stay in when I'm in Colombo - at least twice a year. The other hotels of the same or better calibre are either too fussy or sterile. Goh has loads of character.
The only things I would add to the hotel would be a hair dressing salon and perhaps a swimming pool. That would just complete the picture.
no good resaption also the price not good and i like no thing and that is why i moved next day to beter hotle
Advertised in booking about wi fi and noWifi i common areas, the charges added tothe basic charges was a shock was an extra 25%
I liked the big bed and the comfortable mattress. my room was airy and it has tall doors the bathroom was old, but some items were changed - new patents and new accents fresh fruit juice in the breakfast courteous staff
the streets near the hotel had smells bad torn sheets in my bed
It was available during a busy time in Colombo (England Test match). It had all the necessary facilities we wanted - aircon, tv, internet, ensuite, in town.
It is in need of a refurb, is tired and dirty. The ensuite ponged and had a cockroach in it. The internet was available but cost per hour and always seemed to run out under the time. Restaurant was pretty good and not bad value but there are so many better places to stay. It is in the middle of nowhere and no taxi or tuc tuc driver knew it. The prevailing view of another hotelier (who thought our other choices had been good) was it is way overdue a clean up and refurb. Avoid.
The location was good, the price was too high for my hotel standards but cheaper than all other hotels located far from the centre.
The staff is very friendly, the location is great, and the Grand Old Dame of the city is always a great place to stay instead of the antiseptic new hotels all over the city.
The view is good.
Truly awful hotel. The staff put the phone down on you and don't investigate your complaints. The equipment in the room is either missing (no safe) or rubbish (tiny crt tv). They charge a fortune for internet access. I had loud banging in my room on the evening of arrival. I told them to sort it out or give me another room. 4am the banging continued. Their guy came up and heard it and I insisted on moving rooms. I then faced a long flight having not been properly rested. They made no attempt to try and rectify or recompense me. It's like a back packers hotel but for a higher price. Thought it would be colonial, but it's just old and awful.
It was the only decent - sounding hotel with availability (and which was not too expensive) that I could find. Unfortunately it was extremely disappointing & I would never recommend it to anyone.
Bad shower (scalding water temp), dirty room, overpriced. Has clearly seen far better days many many years ago.
The service was friendly and the place is impeccably clean. The restaurant view of the harbor is spectacular.
Good location close to Fort bus and train terminal. Helpful staff and good restaurant. Interesting sight to the Colombo port facility. Quick check in and check out.
Furniture and toilet need improvement. Had to wake up due to hammering from construction happening in some areas in hotel. Not enough pillows provided in the room and missing the blanket.
The location of the hotel in the center of the city overlooking the harbour is exellent
The hotel is old and it looks like it. It has not the old magic as it us not renovated but every now and then the fix something, so it has lost the atmoshere and the style
Well located with old world features
Location location location... Its so close to the fort railway station; the gateway to the real part of my sri lanka trip... Nice old historic hotel though, friendly staff. But idea for my stopover and onward access to trains..
Nothing worthy of mention it did exactly as expected.. Better than no frills but nothing wow... Bar man was top bloke mind..
